The Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS) is an established and financed organization by the Luxembourgish government in November 2022. Our mission is to facilitate and promote the generation of value from public sector data in Luxembourg (and support at the Europe level), aligning with the government's vision to position the country as a leader in the data economy. 

 

Collaborating closely with public stakeholders and industry partners, we create data spaces to enable efficient and responsible data reuse, playing a vital role in establishing a thriving research and innovation ecosystem. As a provider of services, we support the sharing and reutilization of data for both public and private data partners. 

 

Additionally, we are committed to becoming a key contributor to the European Data Spaces, outlined in the European Commission's data strategy. By harnessing the potential of data, we aim to accelerate Luxembourg's economic, ecological, and societal transitions in smarter and more sustainable ways.

 

We are fast growing, from 7 initial employees to 35 in December 2023 and 49 in March 2024. We plan to grow up to 60 by the end of year 2024.

 





 

Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer







What you will do 


  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and improvement of secure processing environments, as well as other IT infrastructures needed for the company to operate.
  • Be the liaison for choosing and managing IaaS partners ensuring alignment on technical and budgetary considerations (Linux, Windows, Containers, VMs).
  • Collaborate across teams to transform business needs focused on public sector data secondary use into secure and relevant deployments. 
  • Design and implement a disaster recovery strategy.
  • Evaluate and deploy new technologies and tools to keep the infrastructure relevant.
  • Participate to conducting system audits for ISO 27001 compliance, identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. 
  • Assist to manage the Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions in place.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and networking using different configuration management tools.
  • Implement effective monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, architectural diagrams, and compliance reports.


Who you are


  • Masters in a scientific, technological, or engineering discipline related to computer science, information technology, or computing.
  • 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex infrastructure environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
  • Must have knowledge of automation for the cloud (e.g., Terraform) and configuration of resources (e.g., Ansible, puppet).
  • Must have solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS), security best practices, and firewall configurations.
  • Must have experience with VPN solutions like Cisco AnyConnect, OpenVPN, and WireGuard.
  • Must have strong knowledge of RHEL based operating systems and knowledge of Windows servers.
  • Must have knowledge of virtualization solutions such as VMware, Hyper-V, and OpenStack.
  • Must have familiarity with IAM solutions like Keycloak and Azure AD.
  • Knowledge of Object-based storage solutions such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and MinIO.
  • Working knowledge in cloud computing platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.
  • Creative, solution oriented with good analytical skills and a mindset for quality.
  • You have critical thinking, you are adaptable, flexible and you can accept and manage changes in the workplace.
  • You have cultural intelligence and diversity consciousness.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Working knowledge of one of Luxembourg’s official languages (French, German or Luxembourgish) is a plus.
