ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:


SITA’s common-use platform has served the industry for over 40 years and is deployed at over 460 airport locations, used by over 350 airlines with confidence. SITA Flex is supported by SITA Global Services (SGS), which provides global business continuity through a flexible service model.


We are looking to fulfill the Linux Administrator role within the team based in Cluj.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Standardize System Level Architecture.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Write detailed documentation for each integration. (Documentation includes details such as Installation, customization, backup, and troubleshooting information)
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures to minimize data loss and maintain business continuity.
  • Automate system administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Automate System Implementation, leveraging processes and tools proven successful in other airport products.
  • Integrate Product with SITA's Cloud Architecture.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
  • Collaborate with software developers and system analysts to troubleshoot and resolve software compatibility issues on Linux platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve system performance and scalability.
  • Provide 3rd level support.
  • Ability to travel worldwide.


Linux Administrator Required Skills:


  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.
  • Proficient in Linux command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting.
  • Understanding of security best practices and experience in implementing security measures on Linux systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration e.g. K8S, KE2, HELM, etc.
  • Knowledge of other container-related technologies such as HAProxy, Terraform, KeyCloak, etc.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and services, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies, such as RAID, SAN, and NAS.
  • Knowledge of Databases such as MS SQL, MySQL, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Linux Administrator or a similar role.
  • Industry certifications, such as Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), are highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware and experience in server management.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Puppet, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios or Zabbix is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Linux administration.
